Derek Lam Resort 2010

Derek Lam's resort 2010 collection is perfection. Featuring bold, beautiful colors, the pieces have great life, but are also very wearable. The cuts of each piece are flattering and interesting, and not a single piece is dull or awkward-looking. I can see only the most stylish and confident of women wearing these pieces on her vacation; this collection is definitely not for a fashionista who does not want all eyes on her.

I love the feminine feel of the collection that is strong without being "girly." The pink dress with the vertical bow reminds me of Marilyn Monroe's dress from "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes," but with a fresh, modern take. In fact, I would say that the entire collection is about taking retro glamor and bringing it into the 21st century, as well as simply having fun and being happy in fabulous attire.
